Action Team for Hazing Prevention
A campus-wide effort to build a safer, more respectful Coug community.
About the Action Team for Hazing Prevention
The WSU Action Team for Hazing Prevention is a dynamic, action-oriented group of students, faculty, and staff working together to foster a campus culture rooted in connection, safety, and positive tradition. We focus on proactive education and values-based engagement to prevent hazing before it starts.
This coalition is not about policies and punishment—it’s about cultivating healthy environments where all students can thrive.
What We Do
- Design Prevention Programming: Develop engaging, research-informed curriculum and events that promote peer respect and community safety.

- Empower Student Voice: Elevate ideas, stories, and leadership from across WSU to inspire change and belonging.
Time Commitment:
Estimated time: 2–4 hours/month, depending on involvement.
- Monthly Meetings The coalition meets monthly to brainstorm, plan, and share updates.
- Special Projects Members may join optional subgroups to lead outreach, curriculum design, or campus events.

Why It Matters
Hazing doesn’t build bonds. It breaks trust. Students deserve a welcoming, inclusive environment where they can connect without coercion. With your voice and creativity, we can build a campus culture that values courage and respect.
Hazing Policies
Washington has a no-tolerance hazing law that requires an organization to lose recognition from the university if they are found responsible for hazing or the University violates state law. Please review the Washington Administrative Code (504-26-206) and/or the Revised Code of Washington (RCW 28B.10.900 - 28B.10.910) related to hazing and WSU's online hazing prevention training for more information.
For more information regarding expectations for student conduct, please see the Student Handbook for Community Standards.
